Cookies for Santa!!

I remember when I was a little girl ~ on Christmas Eve in my Christmas pajamas baking sugar cookies from scratch, flour in my hair and on my nose, putting every ounce of my love for Santa into his cookies. And don't forget the carrots for the reindeer! ;) There's nothing like making Christmas cookies from scratch; sure, it's easy to buy the ready made ones from the store, but where's the fun in that?? Santa prefers homemade cookies as a thank you for his tireless hours of house hoppin' and present droppin'! Here's a recipe that my daughter and I have perfected - we make these cookies every Christmas Eve, super easy and scrumptiously delicious. Santa will be sure to eat every last one! ;)

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
holiday cookie sprinkles

Directions:

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Top with your favorite holiday sprinkles. Cool completely.
